We get it, events add up quickly and before you know it, you’re blowing the big B- your budget. So how can you stretch every dollar and still create a beautiful event without feeling like a penny pincher? We’ve seen first hand how these tips below can save you THOUSANDS of dollars.

  1. Select a week day. Avoid Saturdays and you might find venue fees and even other vendors like DJ’s offering mid-week discounts!

  2. Reduce your guest count. Even just cutting back on 10 people, maybe your co-workers who aren’t that close with your family don’t really NEED to attend. If your average cost per person is $75, that can be $750 savings with 10 less people.

  3. Double check package options. Do you really need all 8 hours of photography? Maybe you can get away with 6 instead and save $300. Do the breakdown of vendors hourly rates to compare if a full day package is really what you need.

  4. Reconsider your menu. Is it critical to have a 3 course plated meal? Or would you be up for something fun and unique like a variety of food trucks or a few specialty vendors like an ice cream cart or poke a la carte? Instead of $150 meal per person, you could do $50 per person if you’re simply willing to get a little creative.

  5. Think local. Source locally grown tropical floral and local ingredients in your menu. Save on shipping! With a destination like Hawaii, 90% of all food and goods are imported having a heavy carbon footprint that comes with it. Local small businesses and farms would love the extra support if you are simply a little more intentional about where your event needs come from.

If saving is more important than spending when you consider the big picture of life after planning a huge event… take the time to rethink what is “expected” and instead just do you! It’s 2020 and the best event is one that is unique to you.
